CLASSROOM EXPECATIONS

CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE:
I have developed a class discipline plan that focuses on both an individual and whole class reward system.  As I have told the students, I prefer focusing on positive behavior rather than negative.  Your child deserves the best climate possible to foster an excellent learning environment that will allow them to reach the classroom expectations.  This plan will be in effect at all times.

We have a large gumball machine that is posted in our room.  Each time the class acts in a way that is outstanding (i.e.: excellent in the halls, quiet and worked hard during a specific subject, compliment from another teacher) it will result in adding a gum ball to our machine.  Every gumball that is added will have the reason for the reward listed on the gumball.  Once we have filled the gumball machine, we will earn a class reward.  This reward will be decided on by the class.

Students also have a chance to be rewarded individually for good behavior.

I use an interactive website, Class Dojo, for individual student behavior monitoring.  It is an engaging site that is used to record behaviors and accomplishments immediately.  Students and parents have the opportunity to monitor student behavior from home.  Students can also personalize their avatar which promotes engagement.  Students have an opportunity to purchase rewards with their points.

Behavior that does not follow our classroom and school rules will result in an individual warning.  After the first warning, students we lose minutes off of their recess.  Each occurrence will result in loss of additional minutes off of their recess until the whole recess is served.

Severe disruptions will result in a visit to the principal and parent notification.  Each student will have a full understanding of the classroom rules and consequences.
